Travelling by car:
Travelling to Rab has become easy.
You can travel most of the route by motorway.
The route from Graz is Graz – Maribor – Zagreb – Karlovac – Senj, then from Senj take the route to Split and stop in Stinica. In Stinica take a ferry boat to Rab. The route is 384 km long.
The route from Nürnberg can be taken in two directions:

1. The first direction is: Nürnberg – München – Salzburg – Villach – Ljubljana (in Ljubljana take the route to Postojna as the route via Zagreb is longer) – Postojna – Rijeka (from Rijeka keep the route to Split) – Kraljevica – Crikvenica-Senj – Stinica, where you take a ferry boat to Rab. The route is 792 km long.

2. The second direction is: Nürnberg – Regensburg – Passau – Linz junction – Graz – Maribor – Zagreb – Karlovac – Senj- then take route to Split and stop in Stinica. The route is 906 km long. Although it is 114 km longer than the first route, it might actually be faster, depending on the traffic density on another route.

“Rapska Plovidba” has four ferry boats running the 15 min. voyage from Stinica to Rab. The ferry boats operate every day, including Sundays and holidays, and make over 10 trips per day, or more as needed. In case of traffic jams, the ferries run non-stop. The timetable can be downloaded from When the page opens, click on PLOVNI RED (Croatian for “timetable”). It takes approx. 5 min. by car (approx. 3 km) from the ferry landing on Rab to the small town of Barbat . When you enter Barbat, you will see the Mirko Diving Centre’s sign, where you turn as indicated and drive for another 200 m, after which you arrive to our Centre, your destination.

Important notice.

The route via the island of Krk is much longer and more complicated. Avoid this route.
